Century Media is an independent platform and database consultancy, established in 1999 and based in the Scottish Highlands.

The practice began delivering web, email, database hosting, and server management across GNU/Linux and Unix systems — work that meant running real production systems for real customers. That grounding still shapes the work: deep specialisation over breadth, and engagements defined by what gets delivered rather than time spent.

Today the work is platform architecture and build, PostgreSQL at fleet scale, cloud infrastructure, and production data migration — with an interlude, between 2015 and 2024, in senior in-house engineering roles. We work at both ends of the range: single databases carrying a business, and estates measured in thousands.
